Planning to build a small sled for a home cinema setup, I need a 20-40 cm rod that can be adjusted in height, so it becomes shorter or longer, but can't really find anything directly, do you have any tips? (doesn't have to be round either)

Yes, something like that, but unfortunately that couldn't be adjusted the way I want it.
