Hello everyone!

I've put together a gate using some leftover wood from a trellis. The gate is meant to act as a child safety gate at a staircase. It's made from quite solid material, 30x60mm glued laminated timber, a frame with slats, all from the same material. It's slightly smaller than 1x1 meter.

Now to my question: Will it work with piano hinges from Clas Ohlson?
I've purchased them and they feel a bit squeaky, and the gate is quite heavy. Or should I rather buy some kind of lift-off hinges that are sturdier?

If you have a piano-type hinge, it should go all the way from top to bottom; short pieces become a bit weak if the gate is thin. I myself bought a children's gate, cut it down to the right measurements and have only 2, but it has a mount that it hangs on the other side and a small bracket underneath that prevents it from sagging when it is fully open.
