Hello,
I'm not sure if this question might belong in Roof & attic instead, but since it involves both technique and material, I'll ask it here.
As filling, sanding, and painting are not activities I particularly enjoy, I've been thinking of having a ceiling made of some form of wood paneling. We can take an example I like very much from Intressanta Hus.

As you can see, there's a gap between each panel piece. Should one stretch some form of dark "fabric" on the joist before nailing the panel? Or would you nail the panel directly onto the joist? How would you proceed?

Nowadays, people usually install sparse paneling c-c 300mm under the floor structure's c-c 600mm (to be able to put up drywall?).
This makes it quite dark above the ceiling panel.
But for safety's sake, I would probably put something like black wind barrier before the panel is nailed/screwed up.
Or perhaps even better, ground fabric, just under 5 kr/m2.

Really nice roof. Does anyone know what type of panel it is?
