We are working on a villa construction where three of the facades will be plastered (north, south, and east) but where the fourth facade will be lasered wood. The architect originally had an idea to have horizontal smooth wood paneling and then plywood above and below the windows to highlight the one-meter modules that the facade is built of. Now we have somewhat abandoned the mix idea and are considering either livening up a regular vertical panel with battens (like narrower battens and a little denser than usual) or going for the entire facade in plywood. If I laser the facade at the factory before it is assembled, how much difference in durability should I expect between plywood and regular sawn paneling? The way I'm thinking of the plywood, you can see in the image here

Hello again!
It looks like Kalmar's new art museum? For outdoor use, you must use plywood that is glued with special glue. The advantage of plywood is that there is less movement in the material. Otherwise, the question probably boils down to which surface treatment you use. Sawn wood, but not plywood, can be painted with slamfärg (such as Falu rödfärg), probably the most durable (but maintenance-intensive) of all paints.

Yep, it's Kalmar
There won't be any slamfärger; regardless of the material, it will be lasyr. So the question is really laserad plywood vs. laserad panelbräda. The plywood gives the facade a lot of character, but it would likely also mean some extra work at the factory.

Then I would vote for plywood. Solid wood offers no advantages in that case and the plywood is guaranteed to look nicer.
