Hello,
I am currently in the midst of planning a hallway renovation. For the floor, we will be putting down dark brown tiles. The walls will have beadboard (painted white). Now we are considering a sliding door wardrobe solution.
We're thinking about buying two MDF panels and using these as sliding doors to match with the beadboard walls. But we are complete novices in this and would need some tips and advice on how to proceed.

What type of hanging system would be suitable? Wheels at the top or bottom?
Is the panel too thin?
What kind of grip profiles should we use? Aluminum or a custom-built wooden frame? How do you make a frame?
How many cm should the doors overlap each other?

I appreciate any tips and ideas. :)

Best regards,
Ullis

Hello,
I am going to build a sliding door myself and therefore I was at Bauhaus yesterday and found that they have wheels and tracks that you can buy if you want to build sliding doors yourself. These tracks should be above the sliding door and a small plastic piece is placed at the floor level to guide/stabilize the door.
I am still at the planning stage and have not yet figured out exactly how I am going to construct my sliding door.

Bumping the thread a bit as I'm hoping there might be someone else who has answers to your questions since I'm wondering about pretty much the same things! :-)

You need to have a track mounted at the top, possibly a stop fitting, a roller that should run in the track, and some sort of door fitting to attach the roller to. Additionally, you need a (or several) floor guide(s) and a milled groove in the bottom of the doors. Everything is available for purchase in ready-made kits.

Instead of a grip list, you can insert (mill) grip fittings, as you cannot have external grips on sliding doors.

Mount the track in the ceiling on a beam. Cover strip on the outside to cover the fittings and beam.

Screw together a frame of, for example, 22*70mm strips, a rectangle with two cross strips in the middle. Panel or sheet on the outside. Line the edges, or apply melamine. Painting/spackling can also work.

Overlap an appropriate amount. Estimate 3-10 cm.
