I want to extend and lengthen the roof of a dormer with a span of 6 meters. I want the roof to extend an additional 2 meters. I don't want any collar beams and will not support with any posts, it should be free-hanging. This will serve as a canopy over a patio.

I am considering making my own trusses with 220*45 planks and nail plates and am wondering if it is sufficient to let the trusses rest on 3 pieces of 220*45 planks that I insert through the facade and let run as far as possible into the attic. One at the ridge and two on each side as far out as possible. There will then be roof tiles on the roof.

If you understand what I mean; does the construction itself work? Are the plank dimensions sufficient or is laminated wood needed to lay the trusses on?

Difficult construction. Possibly, you could make a space framework with braces running from the facade to the outer gable peak. The problem in the dimensioning is probably snow load.

Hello, your solution sounds completely unreasonable, but not impossible. You need to talk to a designer. My guess is that you need to anchor your intended glulam beams down into the foundation both in the corners and far into the walls, the corners for compression and the walls for tension.
