Have installed a metal corner profile making it a "good corner",

BUT the putty on top, if you sand it so that the corner becomes exactly 90 degrees with a razor-sharp finish, there's no chance it will hold, right?

Do you need to put wallpaper over it, or have you painted with some durable lacquer?

How do you make it last?
 
Well, marks will always appear over time, but a fabric makes it a bit more impact-resistant, otherwise the non-woven wallpaper is quite thick if you choose to wallpaper.
 
Realized that I have filled too much.

It will have to be wallpapered over.

I guess you should fill as little as possible so that the steel edge is free. I'll try that next time.
 
You spackle as usual, but then you sand down the spackle towards the corner and thus get a nice and sharp corner.
