Hey!

Tired of the bulky shape of the lower part (legs) of the fireplace

The idea is to make the rounded corners right-angled with OSB and then plaster and eventually paint.

What are your thoughts on fire safety etc. regarding this idea?

I would probably call the chimney sweep and ask, if anyone's opinion counts, it's him/her.

Saw lightweight concrete into pieces and glue them with adhesive and plaster, osb is not good to plaster on.

If it's the lower part, you could test it

Lightweight concrete might work better =)

No, I say!
Use drywall instead, or, for example, Minerit.
