Hello! My daughter has a small attic room that I plan to do a little mini-renovation on. Laminate flooring and covering the rough boards in the picture with regular OSB. I have two ideas:

1. Attach OSB directly on. Done.

2. 45-studs, some insulation, vapor barrier/plastic, OSB last. Or drywall. And add a vent for better air circulation.

Option 1 feels a bit easier... :)

What do the pros say?

  • Attic room with bare wooden rafters and exposed beams, illuminated by a bright ceiling light. Visible details of wooden texture and some construction materials.
  • Weathered attic wooden walls with peeling paint, showing the interior of a space under renovation.
No one with any advice to give? :)

Not entirely easy to get an impression from your pictures.
Is the space going to be heated? Or what will it be used for?
How do you access the space? Door? Hatch?

Ah, I see.

There is a regular door leading in, and the idea is to use it for storage of items. Maybe to install a small heater to keep it frost-free, but no need for 20 degrees in the middle of winter.

Spent a few hours fixing up the floor a bit, my daughter thought the floorboards were a bit scary before.

  • A newly renovated attic space with wooden walls and a smooth light wood floor, intended for storage.
This becomes more complex if you are going to insert a small element. Condensation and other factors you have to take into account.

Keep it cool and set up your USB. Keep it simple.
