Hello,

I don't even know if I'm posting this under the right topic. We live in a row/semi-detached house and the neighbors on the other side seem to have wardrobe cabinets with sliding doors that are adjacent to our walls. Every time they close/open their cabinets or when the sliding door moves, it sounds like thunder on our side. The former neighbors tried to install some cushioning where the door goes in but it didn't really help. We had a discussion with them before they moved and they agreed that it needed to be fixed, but then they moved shortly after. The new residents haven't seemed to use their cabinets much, so we haven't heard much and it went to the side. However, in recent days they seem to have used them, and the same thunder is coming through to us again, so I feel that we need to do something about it. When we discussed this with the old neighbors, we concluded that a carpenter needs to look at this and possibly fix it. Does anyone here have any good advice or can suggest what kind of carpenter or craftsman we should hire? Do they even take on such "small jobs"? Grateful for any help.

Sounds like you should have some cushioning material under the track that the doors slide in. Thick rubber strips on each side or something. Have a wise carpenter take a look on site.

Soft wheels should make a difference, I guess it's hard plastic now.

Hello,

Thank you for your input. I've been in contact with a carpenter who asked me to send pictures, but it didn't seem like he was particularly keen on taking on the job. Probably because it is relatively a "small" job compared to other tasks that he gets. We really need to do something about it, it sounds like a small bomb inside our place when they use their cabinets, strange that it should be like that.
