I'm in the process of installing tongue and groove boards on a ceiling. Now I'm nearing the end, and it's time to put in the last board. I want it to be as close to the wall as possible, so there isn't a large gap. But how on earth do you fit it in? It must be really difficult to join the tongue and groove when you can't press them together with any force since the wall is in the way.

Thanks in advance

Now I'm just an amateur. Take a crowbar and press in the last board, I think it's impossible to avoid getting a gap nearest to the wall, but you might want to have some form of molding? Usually, you have to rip the last board, if you only get a narrow board at the end, join it with the "whole" board and nail up 1½ board.

Smart to merge the last two boards. It will probably help me a lot. Thank you so much!

You cut away the lower tongue on the last board, just like when laying flooring.

Alfons_Helikopter. That was a good tip, I've never tried it. Then it's just to put the board there and nail it. Sounds like you're a professional, they usually know the shortcuts.

I put together the last two boards, so it became one and a half. Then I used a crowbar and roof supports, so it worked perfectly. Thanks for the help.
