I have a guest cabin that smells like freshly tarred boat. This is because the boards on the inside have been tarred.

The construction looked like this: Outer panel->insulation (no air gap)->tongue and groove boards->board (masonite)->wallpaper.

There doesn't seem to be any problem with having the insulation directly between the outer panel and the inner wall boards. It's not really okay, but as I said, no problems.

My idea is to tear down the tongue and groove boards and replace them with new ones and then either drywall or panel over that.

What do you think? Does it seem okay? I would rather put up OSB but I'm not entirely sure if that's a good idea - it's faster anyway.
