need help as I am planning to have quarter rounds in the corners of a paneled room but now realize after putting the chair rail that the quarter round which is 9x9 sticks out badly both where the chair rail meets in the corner and where it ends flat as with the wall molding. Anyone have tips preferably with a picture on how I can finish nicely?

Wall with paneling and a trim corner. Looking for advice on handling the quarter-round molding where trim meets the corners and ends.

See no finishes or corners

The corner is veeeery far to the left @vanpire
I haven't finished the ends yet, which is why I'm asking for help before I put them up, e.g. in the inner left corner of the image. However, you can clearly see a tiny little breast list it should connect to. The sink will be in this "corner" so you'll have to see what I've done.

Are you going to have quarter round both in the corners and against the casing then?

So vertically in the corners to hide that I'm still wavering a bit with the saw. At first, I didn't plan on having the quarter round, but when I tried it, I thought it looked nice and full in the inner corners and where the panel and trim meet. However, when I first attached the chair rail and then tried to attach the quarter rounds, I realized they stick out beyond the chair rail. Perhaps I'll take a picture tomorrow when I'm back at the house.

Carve the quarter-round so it matches the profile of the dado rail?

@richardtenggren Only at the top do you mean then?

Maybe redo and do it right is appropriate. Remove and place a block (a shelf will rest on it later). I regret not screwing the rail instead...

Yes, if you whittle down the top of the quarter round so that it fits against the profile of the chair rail, so you don't get any visible end grain?
