Hello,

Here's a real beginner's question, but I'd rather do it right than do it over.

I'm planning to nail up tongue and groove boards and then attach drywall to this. My question is how you think I should saw the tongue and groove boards. Does it matter if the joint (because there will be one) is placed over a stud or not?

I'm doing this primarily to get a more stable wall. The studs are 70, so with single-layer drywall as it was previously, the wall sways quite a bit, which I want to avoid in the future.

Regards,
/Magnus

The best result is achieved if you extend a rule.

With tongue and groove there is minimal waste as well.
Regardless, I think it's just a matter of nailing it on without splicing onto the stud.
