Hello!
Does anyone know if it is possible to move a concrete staircase??? The thing is, we want to remodel our entrance, but for it to work, we need to move the concrete staircase forward about 1m or so. We don't want to tear it down and build a new one in wood or build wood over the existing concrete staircase. The concrete staircase is 1.15m high and has 6 steps. The relocation should be parallel to the house (which is built in wood), in the same direction as the staircase is now. The house was built in 1939, I don't think the staircase is attached to the house, but it is reinforced. It is about 1m wide. Grateful if anyone has any advice.  :-?

If it's not attached to the house, it should be possible with some lifting slings around the stairs and a larger construction machine. Some brädfoder might also be needed to avoid scraping the edges where the straps tighten.

If it was built in 1939, I assume it is cast in place with substantial dimensions. It doesn't seem likely that it could be moved with a good result. Do you have a picture of the staircase that you can post here?

Hello Eld,
thank you for the reply. What you say sounds plausible. I'm sending a picture of the underside of the stairs so you can also see the condition of it. Is there any other method to "extend" the stairs so that the landing is closer to the street? We'd like to keep the height. It feels such a shame to just tear the thing down...

Sometimes old stairs are just a shell of concrete and filled with cobblestones.
