I will be mounting a bracket for a punching bag this weekend. The bracket is of this type, but without bolts. f.jpg

The bag is a smaller model and weighs 20 kilos, but there will likely be more strain than that when it is used, even if there will be a spring between the hook and the bag.

The ceiling it will be mounted in is wooden.

My questions are whether I should use regular bolts (like in the picture), expansion bolts, or another type?

And also if you think it's absolutely necessary to find a beam to screw into, since it's actually not THAT heavy. I mean, if it absolutely has to be hung on a beam, then it will be more limited as to where it can be hung.

Thanks in advance!

if you only have panel otherwise, I would not recommend attaching to it, but a couple of planks on the topside of the panel and through bolts plus lock nuts should work fine. The planks should be seen as washers in size XXXXL.
