Molly plug

I will use molly plug/expansion plug to hang things on a drywall in the garage.

What I know is that there are options for single and double drywall.

I understand that you drill a hole that is the same size as the screw, it's indicated on the screw packaging. The head has teeth that should grip the drywall. I don't have an expansion "plier" and use the screwdriver on low speed. My problem is that the screw isn't expanding. The more I try, the bigger the hole gets. I've tried to hold the expander while tightening the screw to prevent it from spinning. I can't get it to work. I watch videos on YouTube but the screw isn't expanding and securing itself. What am I doing wrong? Did I perhaps buy the wrong screws?

Based on not having drilled too large:
Pull the screw head outward, away from the plug, as they say. Screw again. Pull a little more. Screw. Improvise with polygrip or something if you don't have a "molly tong."

I don't quite understand. The screw and other parts in the expansion plug (Mollyn) are always sold as a unit as far as I know, so I don't understand how you could buy the wrong screw.

You write that it doesn't expand, but what is happening then?

Do you have a single or double disc then? Which expander do you have exactly?

The plug in the picture is for a single disc, but the product with that designation if you look at Biltema (M5 x 74) is for a double disc, so the picture at Biltema is wrong.

Additionally, if you have had the luck/misfortune of drilling into a stud, an anchor won't work right there. Examine the pilot hole with a stick with a small hook, for example, bent wire, to assess the depth.

You mention that it doesn't expand, so what is happening instead?

Poorly phrased by me. But the Molly plug doesn't expand, that's my problem, no matter what I do. When I mentioned the screw, I meant the screw in the expander. By buying wrong, I mean, of course, the whole expansion screw, not the screw in the expander.

Addition, if you've had the good/bad luck of drilling into a stud, an anchor won't work there. Investigate the hole with a stick with a small hook, like bent wire, to assess the depth.

Another question. If you've drilled holes for anchor screws but the holes have become too large for various reasons, and they are now filled in. Can you make a new hole at the same place again? The filler will just crumble? If you want a screw at that exact spot, can you use something other than an anchor plug?

No, no stud has been in the way.

Another question. If you have drilled holes for the expander screw but the holes have become too large for various reasons. Now they are filled with spackle. But you can't make a new hole in the same place again? The spackle will just crumble? If you want a screw in that exact spot. Can you use something else than an expander plug?

A larger expander is the first thought.

Oh, I didn't know that. I sent this picture with the person who was going to Biltema to shop. That's the one that was purchased.

You can easily see on the plug if it is for single or double. The marked section is either one or two plasterboards long (about 13 or 26mm).
