Hi,
I've chipped away the old slab and cleared out filling amounting to about ten big bags, what a task...)
Anyway, I'm going to cast a new slab and at the bottom have 200 mm of isodrän. I just got the idea to insulate the new slab from the existing basement walls using some form of capillary-breaking layer, so the new slab will be completely isolated from moisture migration from the surrounding soil. I'm thinking of something like multi platon mat or "platon uppvik" on the inside of the wall and the new slab at 100 mm.
I consider this measure necessary since I haven't insulated under the foundation and there will be moisture transport up into the wall and possibly out into the slab.
Do you think platon multi or "uppvik" is suitable for this? My concerns are mainly whether these might lead to problems with potential horizontal forces from soil pressure that would otherwise be better absorbed by the slab.
Am I thinking incorrectly?
