Hello, living in a Mockfjärds house from '64 for 4 years now. Have renovated and replaced most of it. But now we're going to tackle the living room.
× Tear down the wall between the kitchen and living room.
× Install a fireplace.

How does it work to "stämpa"?
Planning to go down through the floor cassettes and place a steel beam on the load-bearing concrete wall in the basement below. Or how have you others done it?

Have you reinforced for the fireplace?

Best regards, Markus.Björk

Drawings and pictures make it easier.

Exactly where should the stove be placed?
Exactly what is underneath/slightly underneath regarding walls, etc.?

Do not write the exact same questions in multiple threads, it is considered spam, and no one wants that.

If you're quick, you can delete the two other posts yourself (via the desktop version). Otherwise, you can ask a moderator to delete the posts, the easiest way is to report your own post and write that it is a duplicate. If there are responses in multiple threads, the moderator can merge the threads so that no response is lost.

Okay, sorry. Will do this immediately. Felt that I wanted to get the questions out to as many users as possible. Sorry again!

Welcome to the forum. The duplicate has been removed.

I think you would need to describe the problem a little more in detail if someone is going to be able to answer.

Many variants of stoves do not require any floor reinforcement.

How about the wall you want to tear down, is it load-bearing?

Also live in a mockfjärd, what is your floor plan?

I have installed a fireplace in our prefab house, there were no problems, didn't need to reinforce anything. But it probably depends on what kind of fireplace, and what model of house. Our house was built in 1969.

Okay sounds great. We are planning on soapstone and that is a bit of extra weight there. Does your house have a basement?

Yes, we have a basement! We have a Contura 560t that has some soapstone. There have been no problems. It's in a corner of the living room, and the chimney goes through a closet upstairs.
