Hello.
I am about to get a miter saw.
Is there a good one that can handle everything from paneling to fine cutting like moldings?
And is there any I should avoid?

All miter saws can cut paneling and moldings. It's just a matter of having the right blade.

You should consider whether you need a machine that can tilt both right and left, or if it's sufficient to tilt in one direction, and what dimensions you want to cut.

I have a Bosch GCM 8SJL, which I am satisfied with. Usually available cheaply on sale quite frequently. However, it can only tilt left and does not cut 95x95 posts without flipping the material, which is annoying. The laser is hard to see in daylight.

Will it always be indoors? Do you buy multiple blades and switch them depending on the application? Are you able to keep the guide rails lubricated/clean so the cutting movement is always smooth, and saw with gentle smooth movements? Do you always use hearing protection and are unconcerned about noise?

If yes to all questions, you'll do fine with a cheap saw from Biltema, Lidl, or Jula's budget line. These make a hell of a noise and bend in the entire frame if you apply force.

Would rather spend the money on a good used saw.

Metabo Miter Saw KGS 216 M is a sensible saw in the low-price range. I have one myself in the summer cabin. At home, I have a Bosch 8 sjl, and it is of course nicer. Depends on the budget…

The text in my post turned bold and apparently can't be changed 😬

Something to consider is whether the saw should be mobile (easy to move around) or permanently fixed in its place. If it's permanent, it's nice to have a slightly larger saw, maybe Bosch gcm 10
