Micronite/fiber cloth behind stove insert
In our extension, the painters are about to put up microlit (I call it that, but the label says EasyUp fiber cloth) on the plastered Siporex blocks before wallpapering. When I asked if it is OK to have microlit behind the fireplace insert (gas fire), they had no idea and said they have put microlit in many houses where fireplaces of various kinds are later installed. I've tried googling, but can't find anything. It's obvious that we shouldn't have wallpaper inside the installation of the fireplace insert, but is fiber cloth flammable? Apparently, it consists of cellulose and polyester fiber.
Anyone know (and not just guessing...)?

What does the manufacturer of the gas fireplace specify about the distance to flammable materials? Both cellulose and polyester are flammable. You can also try to ignite a piece, but if you are sure it consists of cellulose and polyester, you can be reasonably sure that it is also flammable.
It's not a matter of distance, there simply must not be anything combustible inside the installation, and you're probably completely right about the fiber cloth. It's just a bit alarming when experienced painters say they've never refrained from "microliting" where stoves are to be installed, and when I can't find a single piece of information about this online. Thanks for the response!A Avemo said:What does the manufacturer of the gas fireplace specify about the distance to combustible materials? Both cellulose and polyester are combustible.
