What do you base this statement on? I know several blindbotten built with tongue-and-groove foam across the joists that have worked just fine
I’ll answer even though the question was directed at Kurtivan.

Foam encompasses both Styrofoam and regular white polystyrene. I have seen a blindbotten made of polystyrene that mice have gnawed through without any problem. Therefore, I advised against it because I thought the same would apply to Styrofoam. I’ll take Kurtivan's word that Styrofoam works, but I know polystyrene is not mouse-proof. Perhaps there weren't many mice in the foundation you saw.

Cellplast as a concept includes both styrofoam and regular white polystyrene foam. I have seen a blind bottom of polystyrene foam that mice have freely gnawed tunnels through. Therefore, I advised against it as I thought the same would apply to styrofoam. I have to trust Kurtivan's word that it works with styrofoam, but I know that polystyrene foam is not mouse-proof. Perhaps there weren't many mice in the foundation you saw.

Most likely there weren't many mice there, but in the rest of the house, there were some traces.

Maybe as a precaution, one can treat the cellplast with something the mice don't like? Whatever that might be...

But now we're constructing with cellplast in this case so that's how it will be.
