I'm planning to do some woodwork on the house and I'm thinking about gable decoration. I'm considering some sheet material like plywood to cut out, but what kind of board should I use to withstand outdoor conditions? I don't want the veneer to come off.

Is solid wood that is oiled and painted excluded?

WBP-bonded birch plywood or printed plywood is best for this. You can also use formwork/marine plywood of good quality but it requires sanding and more coats to cover the brown epoxy layer.

However, plywood of good quality is expensive in Sweden, so I would probably still opt for planed timber and then glue it together in sections.

ok, thanks,
I'll sketch some appearance and then decide which approach to choose.
