Hi!

I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I hope someone can help me a bit. I'm completely confused by all the different types of wood and names that exist. Does the wood type matter significantly, or should I just go for the cheapest option and then lacquer it to achieve the dark color like the stools below?

And one last question, is there any hardware store where you can cut the pieces directly?

A wooden stool with a dark finish, featuring a rectangular top and a sturdy, geometric base, resembling the style discussed in the forum post.

A wooden stool with a curved seat and tapered legs, displaying a warm wood grain finish. Ideal for explaining wood selection and finishing techniques.

Hi,

Bumping the thread for you, as I'm not an expert in the subject.
But the wood on that pallet you're showing is of good quality. It's entire boards of heartwood.
Many hardware stores, and definitely lumberyards, can help you cut the lengths. But the fine carpentry you'll have to do at home. Joints, chamfers, non-straight cuts, etc.

Best regards

Stefan
