We are in the process of building a cabin where a cast iron stove will provide the heat. We plan to build masonry around the stove as a fire protection so that we can place it close to the walls in a corner.
Otherwise, we will have vertical paneling, but what do you do behind the bricks? It seems unwise to build in front of the paneling if it needs to be replaced for some reason... At the same time, I'm not sure if you can have brick directly after the wind protection, since it's a vacation home that is partly unheated, I'm concerned about condensation. Should we instead have some kind of form-stable board that can divert or buffer potential moisture?
