Hello all builder friends.
Is there a tool that "marks" or "finds" the studs in a wall?
I need to find out exactly where they are and how thick/wide they are.
The wall is a regular drywall.
I don't know what kind of studs the previous owner used.
Grateful for answers

A stud detector is a small electronic gadget that can usually detect both wooden studs, electrical wires, water pipes, and more. I would assume it reads magnetic fields and thereby detects differences in the wall. Thus, no laser. Laser gadgets are meant to project straight lines on walls so you can check how crooked the paintings are hanging after a party and thereby classify the bash according to Party Table 1989:12 from Svensk Byggtjänst. As mentioned, stud detectors are available at every hardware store, Clas Ohlson, Elfa, and maybe even at Lidl.
And since I became curious about how they really work, I'm posting the result of my googling here.
