Hello,
I'm planning to build a pergola over my upcoming outdoor kitchen. It consists of vertical 45x195 beams and on these rest 45x195 beams. My question to all of you is - What is the best way to join these together for stability? Should I use a metal plate (not so attractive), long screws, or should I cut/notch them in some way? How would you do it?
Glue and screw both the posts and the beams together.
At the post, cut one of the 45x195 so that half of the beam can rest at its full length on the post. Notch out 45mm from the other 45x195 in the post so that the other half of the beam has a support.
The remaining 150mm of the post extends up to the ÖK beam, which you can then screw the beam into.
Glue screw both the posts and the beams together.
At the post, cut one of the 45x195 so that half of the beam can rest at its full length on the post. For the other 45x195 in the post, notch out 45mm so that the other half of the beam has a support.
The remaining 150mm of the post goes up to the top beam which you can then screw the beam into.
Thank you very much. If I understand you correctly, is this how I should do it?
