We have a small beach area connected to the summer house (see image). It's very rocky, and it would be nice to be able to swim without hurting our feet.

In previous years, we've used an excavator here to remove stones, but during the winter, the boulders return. Both small and large. Last year, we spent a few days manually clearing stones from the water.

Now I'm considering if there's a smarter solution. A dock would be too big of a project. But I'm thinking maybe we could build a half-meter wide and a few meters long wooden structure just so we can get past the stones where it's a bit deeper. I'm thinking this structure could just lie in the water, similar to the boat. And it could be pulled up or down as needed.

Has anyone built something similar? Or does anyone have suggestions for another solution?

  • Rocky small beach with a boat on a trailer, grassy area in the foreground, and large stones surrounding the shoreline.
Water shoes? (Note, a serious suggestion)

After getting tired of carefully tiptoeing around and still hurting my feet at various natural harbors, they are part of the standard equipment by now.
