Hello everyone

Recently tore down a wall and thought about putting in 45x45 studs in the holes between the horizontal studs to get an even and straight surface to nail the door frame against.

I plan to leave the studs about 20mm beyond the highest point from the cut-off wall.

Attaching the first piece is simple with a level, but for the next ones when you have to hold the level against the previous piece, does anyone have any tips there?

See the picture and maybe you'll understand better.

  • Wooden wall frame with exposed wiring and a gap for installing 45x45 studs. A chair and radiator are visible nearby.
Wood wedges, to align in. Then cut to the correct dimension on spacers or use wood wedges all the way. Perhaps plastic wedges are better though.

What is the wall made of? It looks like wood, and then you don't need to put anything in.

Can't you just put a cover panel/trim over the hole

Don't have the opportunity to

Because it isn't cut straight and it's probably faster to put in some studs than to recut

Then it's just a matter of getting started. Put in some rules and put on the pass. A little twist here and there, and it's done.

And a little latex sealant and paint
