Hello, I have an old rundown place that I'm going to try to renovate ;D
There is no insulation in the walls, only in the floor joists. It's built with standing tongue-and-groove planks 3-5 inches and I've also seen some horizontal log-like structures in some places. I've had a guy who said there aren't any direct load-bearing walls in it. But I do have an upper floor as well. And there must be something that supports the upper floor, right??

  • Old wooden house interior with exposed beams and logs, showing a partially demolished wall section with no visible insulation, next to a door and window.
:D
This is starting to sound like a fun ad I read once where they rented out a former sheep house in two floors with an airy layout without walls.....

He probably meant that none of the interior walls are load-bearing. The exterior walls that are not gables are probably load-bearing. If you want a better answer, I recommend you hire an hour or two from a structural engineer and ask him to look at the house.
