We plan to take down an interior wall and combine two rooms. We're hiring out the work but it's good to know whether the wall is load-bearing or not for permits, etc. I made a peephole and can confirm that every 60 cm there are two studs (one against each wall) measuring 70x40mm (see image). Does this mean the wall is load-bearing or are the studs only there to support the wall itself?

We live in a 1.5-story Sidensjö wooden house from 1992.

  • Close-up view of wooden studs inside a wall, showing the arrangement of two 70x40mm studs positioned against the walls, possibly indicating load-bearing structure.
  • Blueprint of a 1.5-story wooden house with a marked non-load-bearing interior wall framed by studs, questioning its structural role.
  • Pencil drawing of a building floor plan with structural details, showing walls, studs, and measurements for a 1.5-story wooden house.
No, this wall is definitely not load-bearing.
