Hi,

I have bought a Borohus built in '89. We want to combine our two living rooms into one with a more open floor plan. However, we are unsure if the wall is load-bearing or not.

I have drawn a picture in Paint and attached it (not very pretty and not to scale, but it's something). According to the original drawings of the house model, there should be a wall with an arch that goes diagonally against the rafters (the dashed red line is the wall, green is the rafter). In our house, however, they chose to build a straight corner instead, where one wall, with an arch, goes perpendicular to the rafters, as a load-bearing wall normally does. Now to the question. Is it likely that the wall is load-bearing since the original actually goes diagonally against the rafters, not perpendicular?

Grateful for an answer.

  • Diagram of a house plan showing a red dashed line representing a wall. Green diagonal indicates roof trusses, and a straight corner with a wall at a right angle.
Forgot to write what the letters mean
A= diagonal wall that doesn't exist in our house, but in the original model.
B= Wall we are unsure if it is load-bearing or not.
C= Wall that will be demolished together with B
D= Truss
