I'm thinking of moving a wall in an old kitchen. As seen in the picture, there likely used to be an old iron stove or something similar there before, and I assume it partially rested on the rail.
If I move the wall 0.5 m towards the camera, the rail will end up in the middle of the room.
The chimney is located a bit inside the left wall. Could the rail have another function, like supporting the chimney in some way, or is it safe to cut it?
The house was built in 1912, maybe someone has encountered something similar.
I had two three-meter rail pieces in the beam structure of a house.
On the rails rested an extension of the chimney between two rooms on either side of the staircase.
So look at what is above the rails.
That is, what weight it is supporting.
Yes, what else is there to the left of the wall, maybe there's a kakelugn or something similar resting on the other end of the track? Then there might be a bit more weight towards that side if you cut it...
Do not remove anything without knowing how it looks! Pelpet's solution can be dangerous. It could look like this:

Correct, I was thinking more that it was entirely embedded in the chimney stack and only stuck out to support the stove, but that doesn't have to be the case. It seems to rest on some sort of concrete foundation.
