Thinking of using lime plaster on my basement wall (inside). Wondering if anyone can give me advice.

*Is reinforcement mesh needed?

*There are several types of pre-mix. Which one should be used, I personally think Serpo 144 seems okay? Or is it best to buy lime and mix it yourself?

*Should one then paint with silicate or lime paint?

Grateful for any other advice on this subject from someone with experience.

Hello!
I have just repaired plaster in my basement and replastered about 20m2 with good results. I used lime putty that I bought in a bag at a hardware store and mixed it with sand and water myself. 1 part lime + 3 parts sand + water until the mixture reaches a putty consistency. I don't think you need reinforcement mesh, but you should water the substrate thoroughly before plastering. The right tools are important - search on the dinbyggare page, and you'll get good instructions on how to do it.
Both lime and silicate paints are suitable for lime plaster. NEVER paint a basement wall with a plastic paint that is airtight. I've seen and repaired damage that such paint caused in our basement :P.
Good luck!

Hello
There are reed mats available for purchase.
They are simply reed stalks fastened onto chicken wire.
I find it incredibly easy to work with.
Then we used Optiroc's lime plaster.
Keep in mind to apply a little per layer and let it dry in between.
We have four layers on our wall.

If you whitewash with lime paint, it will "dust off" on clothes, etc., when you brush against it.
We solved it with the cultural craftsmen's ceiling and wall paint.
It looks like it's lime-washed, but it doesn't dust.
It likely works with other emulsion paints as well.

That sounds interesting. Where can you buy such vassmattor? Are they available at regular hardware stores?

yes, as far as I know...
We bought ours at Strängnäs brädgård.
I think they even had it "on the shelf"

and this is roughly what it looks like.
there are a few more pictures on our website.

No, then you shouldn't need the web???
And kalkputsen should work.

Hello!
Reed mats should probably be used when applying plaster to a wooden plank / whether it's for outdoor or indoor use, I don't know ??? Maybe it works for both cases. A suporex or brick surface is plastered directly after moderate moistening of the surface.
