Facing the task of tiling a guest toilet. The wall looked like a war zone, but I've plastered and filled it so it's reasonably even, though with some minor irregularities. Not bumps and holes, but slight slopes of maybe 5mm over 50-100 cm.

Can these irregularities be compensated by applying a thick layer of tile adhesive, trying to level out the unevenness, or is renovation plasterboard, like 6mm, a good idea? Planning to tile up to the window (see the picture). I think it would be enough to place the renovation plasterboard only where I plan to tile. Since it's such a thin board, there wouldn't be a significant difference in level at the top edge of the tiles.

Grateful for your thoughts!
