Hello! I'm reviving the thread a bit, I'm setting up horizontal studs on top of plastic for the first time, it's all very exciting. The noggings in the corner I've made so far are kind of "hanging" freely so far, so you can run pipes underneath.
What are the plates you are talking about? I can't see them in the pictures.
 
Sheet metal (type 0.3-0.4 thick) in various shapes/profiles can be used as an alternative or complement to noggings.
I don't have noggings in the corners; instead, I have placed a 90º metal profile (50x50mm) from floor to ceiling. The sheet metal is glued and screwed between the wall chipboard and the drywall.
