Hello,
I am in the process of replacing the rotten sill on a woodshed during the vacation. The previous sill was scarfed but I wonder if there are simpler solutions today, such as some form of angle iron?
In the picture, you can see two sills that will eventually be linked together.
Grateful for suggestions on solutions.

  • Two wooden sills inside a shed, one old and weathered, the other new, waiting to be joined. Visible ground and concrete base.

Maybe make a leaf joint? I think it's easier for you to google leaf joint than for me to explain it and risk misunderstandings =) but it's a very simple version to make. It will be much better than just pushing them against each other (as in the picture) and pulling together with, for example, angle brackets.

Thank you for the answer. I searched for lap joint and it appears to be a variant of splicing. I've made a lap joint on the long side of the house. I'll probably do the same in the corner.
