Is it OK to splice the drywall at a "corner" of an opening if there is OSB behind it? The OSB is spliced above the door frame and is therefore intact in the corner. Can you then splice the drywall along the door frame? It would make things a lot easier, but if it's not possible, we'll avoid it of course.

If you mean that the osbn is joined right above the door, it's fine to run the drywall straight up along the sides of the door. As long as you keep the osb and drywall seams separate from each other, you can almost do it however you want.
