Hello!
My wonderful partner has been diligent and taken down a stair railing on the upper floor.
The panic is currently outweighing the joy. Is there a risk that the construction is load-bearing?

  • A removed stair railing with vertical white spindles and carpeted landing, adjacent to a bathroom with tiled floor and bathtub.
  • Staircase railing partially removed, view of a living room with wooden flooring and a TV in the background. Concern about structural stability.
No, it seems extremely unlikely.

The only thing those posts are supporting is a bit of paint. I would have breathed a sigh of relief and given my partner a happy pat! Just remember to build a proper safety rail so no one falls off.

No, absolutely not - it has nothing to do with the framework.

yep. It is only cut halfway down to the horizontal rule, so we have the fence left at the bottom

But without the attachment to the ceiling, the remaining "fence" may not be stable enough to withstand someone weighing 100 kg falling against it.

Good point. I will take that with me.
