Hello,

I want to make a doorway larger (about 1/3 of the wall) but first need to find out if the wall is load-bearing. I haven't been able to get any information from the housing cooperative nor find a contractor at a reasonable price :(

The building was constructed in 1927 and according to the blueprints, there seems to have been a wall there from the start. The floor runs all the way underneath, and the wall is newly built. The wall runs along the roof trusses, can it still be load-bearing?

Is there anyone here who has hired a contractor in Göteborg to assess the load-bearing capacity of a wall at a reasonable price? :)

Grateful for any answers!

  • Blueprint of a 1927 apartment building floor plan with a red arrow pointing to a specific wall section for renovation considerations.
It is a landshövdingehus, so most of the load-bearing structure on the current floor is made of standing planks. The wall at the arrow is probably not load-bearing. Corners of buildings can otherwise be difficult to assess, but hardly this wall. There are certainly no construction drawings available.
