Hello,
I have removed the insulation around the heating pipes in my house in preparation for the upcoming installation of a heat pump and new boiler.
I assumed it was asbestos and used various protective equipment like a face mask and plenty of water...
But I'm doubtful whether it could have been any asbestos.
The insulation was labeled "rockwool mineral wool" and "Laxå mineral wool."
In the joints and bends, there was something I interpreted as gypsum.
On the outside, there was paper with some kind of mesh on it.
The boiler is from -61 so it was probably installed then.
What do you think, could it have been any asbestos?
Lars

If you protect yourself with a fresh air mask and coverings with an accompanying air purifier, the chance is not great that there is asbestos left in the air. The air purifier should run for a while after the actual demolition, so that the air can be sufficiently purified. It is best to rent air purifier vacuum cleaners when removing asbestos because these equipments also need to be decontaminated, and you are also obliged to inform that you have decontaminated asbestos since the rental company must decontaminate the equipment, which costs a little extra. When you wet down asbestos, it is beneficial in the way that you reduce dust spread. Regardless of the decontamination method, it is recommended to always have an air purifier when handling asbestos and protective equipment.
It's actually not entirely legal for a layperson to perform an asbestos remediation on their own?! Demolition, transport, and final disposal cannot be done just any way.. But as long as you avoided the dust, you'll manage to keep your health intact.
