Hi,
We (the housing association) had a company that went around and installed new cables for cable TV and internet in every apartment. In my case, they went through a wall, but I didn't see if they placed the cable in some kind of duct or tube. Now I want to do the same thing in the same wall, but in a new hole, and run a speaker cable through the wall 2x1.5 mm. Is there any fire risk with running a speaker cable through a wall? The cable is enclosed in plastic (here it is) but I thought that since it's quite tight in/through the hole, it might develop heat or something?

Should I drill a larger hole and run the cable through a metal conduit?

Grateful for advice!

No, there is no fire risk in running the speaker cable through the wall, it does not generate heat.
There are VP pipes that are 10mm, which fit well for thin cables.

You have no currents/voltages to speak of in a speaker cable.

So no, you don't need to do anything special, you can make an oval hole so that the cable just passes through.

Okay, thank you for your help!

The problem is rather if the wall is a "brandvägg." Then there are strict rules for what can be passed through. But it's more about a fire in the room being able to get through the wall via the hole, not that the cable gets hot and starts to burn.

How on earth do I make an oval hole?

An oval drill of course. :D
