Hello all house builders!
I'm new to the forum and have a question that I'm not sure where it belongs, so I'm posting it in this section. (The moderators are very welcome to move it to the correct section if a mistake has been made).
My question is as follows:
I live in a 2-room apartment on the ground floor that has a vertical drainage shaft running from ceiling to floor in my living room. The shaft is square and built into the wall between the living room and the bathroom (see attached image) and contains the entire building's vertical drainage pipe.
However, this shaft seems to be very poorly insulated because I hear quite loud flushing noises every time someone above me flushes or uses the bathroom. And it's quite often...
When I knock on the shaft's walls, it echoes strongly from the thin plasterboards. There doesn't seem to be any insulation between the pipe and the wall and clearly, the pipe itself doesn't seem to be well insulated if at all.
What I'm wondering is if there are any regulations regarding sound insulation of interior drainage pipes or if it's even done at all.
It should also be noted that the apartment is newly built and I still have the warranty from PEAB who built the apartment. Is this something that is covered by this warranty?
Very grateful for answers!
