insulate the attic, how thick insulation etc.?
The house was intended as a two-story building, but they left it half-built and let it be like a large attic with an attached serious staircase and everything, hehe. Now I'm tempted to start finishing the insulation work and such, partly to avoid lots of mice and to have a large hobby room.
I'm just a bit curious about how much you need to insulate the inside of the sloped roof? I imagine you have to insulate a lot, and it seems like the living space would significantly decrease as well.
And how do you prevent mice from sneaking in between the roof and the house walls as they've likely done over the years? Is it as simple as it resolves itself when you install the wall panels after insulating?
Would it be a big advantage to open up the floor and replace the 30-year-old insulation they had between the floors, or is that unnecessary work? (I saw an ad on Blocket where someone claimed his foam was so much better than old regular insulation).
And to be a bit responsible as well; does this require a building permit to insulate one's attic?

Hello. No building permit is needed. There are steel nets to install in the eaves to keep out mice. An even better mouse catcher is a cat. Then you won't have mice all over the property. The mouse problem won't be solved when you insulate the roof. Remember that mice can get in through small gaps of 4-5 mm. You probably need at least 25 cm of insulation in the roof. You don't need to open up the floor in the joist area. Let it stay where it is. As they used to say, don't believe everything you see on TV.
