Hello!

I feel like I've started a few threads without finishing them, but I can assure those who know who I am that I'm not going "arga snickaren" and doing everything at once, but rather taking one thing at a time :D

But enough about that! Now we come to today's question which I think many of you can relate to!

The thing is, the wife here at home thinks it's too dark in the staircase/hallway and wants to install a window to let in light, and as usual, I expect to hear about how dark it is daily until there's a window installed.

The problem is that the wall currently has no window and is made of hollow blocks with a brick facade. So I'm simply wondering how to solve this in the best way? My idea is to install two 40 or 50 cm wide windows to have as little impact as possible on the width.

Above the planned window placement, the wall continues for another meter or so. There's nothing directly resting on this wall in terms of roof trusses or the like, so it doesn't seem like it should be a major issue.

What's the easiest way to go about this? Installing a lintel or similar is quite an extensive procedure, and I'd prefer to minimize the impact.

And I'm already aware of building permits and the like, so it's just the execution that I'm uncertain about :)

Regards, Jimmy
