Hello!

I am planning to install a stove in the house and take the air supply from the crawl space or outdoors. In any case, I'll need to make a hole through the floor and through the subfloor. The picture shows the subfloor. The cross marks approximately where the hole should go. I assume I need to expose about 50x50 cm of the subfloor as a work area (aim correctly for drilling and see exactly where the joists are).

Question 1: What is the safest and neatest way to get through the subfloor (asbestos cement)? Is a hammer the way to go?

Question 2: What kind of material should I use to replace the asbestos cement when I close up the work area later?

Grateful for all the wise answers!
