I am about to renovate a small bathroom, chipboard, self-leveling compound, tiles. When I tore it up, I see that there are only old beams that are about 75 cm apart, and between the studs, it is 60 cm.
How do I easiest create 30 cm apart for the Jafo mounting plate 2? Is it sufficient with noggings to create 30 cm apart?
Can I attach studs from the side to create 60 cm apart? I don't want to build up the height as it raises the floor level too much.
The next question is regarding that there has been a washing machine on this floor, and when it spins, the whole floor shakes. Below, there's a basement not used for living. I'm thinking I can mount a beam across the floor joists from underneath with some posts to further strengthen the construction. Is that a good idea, and is there anything specific I should consider?
Spontaneously, it doesn't sound like a good idea to have tile on that floor. It sounds like the washing machine might shake the tiles loose. A vinyl floor might be safer. The house also looks older, which implies a risk of movement.
I believe that noggings between the joists and double glued-down floor particleboards would stabilize the floor significantly.
It is very easy to access from underneath the basement and install supports. About 2m ceiling height in the basement. Do they do much good if installed under tension with a jack?
I would prefer not to glue double 22mm chipboard as it adds too much to the height.
Is it common to attach studs on the sides of the old ones to create cc60 and an even frame?
