Hello everyone!
I have a half French balcony that is mounted on the sides. 2 bolts on each side.
It's kind of in an enclosure.
Would it be possible to put hinges on one side so that it can be used as a gate?

  • Close-up of a half French balcony railing attached with bolts on each side, showing its potential to be converted into a gate with hinges.
  • A half French balcony with a white panel and black frame, viewed from inside, mounted at the sides with bolts, questioning hinge installation for gate use.
It can be done, but then it will need to be moved out, remember its entire thickness.
There will be some welding work etc. to get it done.

Is it a condominium or privately owned property?

What is outside?

Take it off and put a gate made by a blacksmith there instead. Then you can restore.

It's a condominium with a pedestrian street outside.
So I have to maintain the original appearance of the balcony.
How do embedded hinges work?

Slightly clearer overall pictures might help in getting better ideas. But I would aim to buy a similar "window" to then modify it with some type of hinge. This way it can be easily restored. Alternatively, if hinges can't be added, perhaps it could work with some mount so it can be easily unhooked?
