I have a ventilation duct in the outer wall of a 1.5-story house. The house was built in 1958. I've removed most things but have been stuck on a small eternit duct in the wall where the ventilation vents are attached. I would like to remove it but it seems wedged in the wall. There were two nails in it that I have removed. Any tips on how to get it out without breaking it? Spray some WD40 around it and hope it slides out more easily? I'm out of ideas.
It is probably just stuck.

I know, but it would be easier to put in a new valve without this one there, don't even know if there are new valves that fit these today..

that asbestos fear that exists is overrated.
Once or twice is no danger, worse for those who worked in it all the time.

Wrap it with a trash bag first, or two, if it doesn't come loose, then crush it in the bag.

Remove the grille on the outside, you might have more nails there. I don't think WD40 or similar will help, but use a wooden block as a cushion and tap it gently to see if you get a sense of whether it moves at all or if it's completely stuck.M Mattias E Svensson said:
