You probably need to give a bit more info on exactly which corner you mean. But I guess it's the ones on the "high" side?
Intuitively, I would cut 45° neatly on the side that will be on top (forward) and a little less than 90° on the sheet that will be underneath,

That one is definitely stylish! Will the folding be so visible that you'll see it? There's a risk that it might be a bit overdone otherwise. Granted, if something is worth doing, it's worth doing properly!
It was definitely a clever solution. The sheets probably interlock underneath, securing each other. And the flap on the left comes as a result of this, but it can look nice.
You should buy a few extra meters of sheet to practice on.
